Claire Fender
I am a highly skilled Health Visitor, IAPT trained Parenting Practitioner and Play Therapist with over 35 years of experience working in the NHS. I believe passionately in improving mental health outcomes for children. I began my career as a registered nurse and went on to specialise in Paediatric Nursing and Health Visiting. I have post-graduate qualifications as an IAPT Parenting Practitioner and Play Therapist. I work with children with a wide range of issues including anger, anxiety, attachment, bereavement, conduct issues, self-esteem and trauma. I work for Grief Encounter a bereavement charity as the Assistant clinical manager and Play therapist offering individual bereavement support for children under 14 and parenting support for families following a bereavement. I am studying for my diploma in Forest bathing and I have an interest in outdoor play therapy. I have a warm empathetic approach facilitating trusting relationships, enabling children to process difficult issues, and develop mastery and self-esteem. I can work therapeutically with children either individually or in groups.
