Despoina Sakellariou

Despoina (pronounced Despina) Sakellariou is a Developmental Psychologist, MA, specialized in children creativity and a Therapeutic Play Practitioner. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Panteion University in Athens, Greece, and afterwards, she pursued her graduate studies in the USA. She graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University NY and earned her MA in Child and Developmental Psychology. Her academic interest was in creativity and its use as a resilient factor. Her experience was gained in multiple institutions, such as Yale’s University EGlab, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s Education Department, Covenant House NY and Free Arts NY. In Greece, she has been working for the Cycladic Art Museum since 2010 preparing and conducting creativity workshops for children, as well as for many other institutions and schools (Moraitis School, Athinais kindergarten, “Grandma’s garden” Day care center and more). During the last years, she conducts Therapeutic Play sessions in children in her private practice in Palaio Faliro, Athens. In collaboration with Angeliki Sakellariou, Counselor, MSc, and Family and Group Therapist, she offers counseling in parents and conducts psychological diagnostic tests in children and adolescents. She is a licensed Psychologist in Greece and is a member of APA (American Psychological Association) and PTI.
