Hazel Bentley

My name is Hazel Bentley and I live in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
I am a Certified Play Therapist offering Play and Creative Arts Therapy to individuals or groups, aged 4-16, who are currently finding life a struggle and would like to find ways to feel better.
I am also a Level 3 Youth Worker, leading various youth clubs as well as an Alternative Curriculum Programme for students aged 11 to 16, who mainly feel too overwhelmed by the challenges that mainstream schools can bring and welcome a different environment. Until recently, I also spent many years working as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant in a local primary school.
For nearly 30 years, I have supported children and young people from every sector of the community (and also in other countries) to uncover their true potential in their own unique ways and at their own pace. I have knowledge and experience of working with many different young people, often with complex special educational needs, and/or physical and learning disabilities, as well as having a firm understanding of the detrimental effects of poverty and social exclusion on individuals, families and communities.
I recognise that many children and young people encounter great difficulties within our increasingly complex society, especially with the increased use of social media and computer gaming, coupled with access to such diverse, often confusing, online content. This can sometimes make it difficult to function in a happy and positive way.
I am a passionate advocate for our young generation and am dedicated to supporting their journey towards resilience, independence and a more liberated existence through therapeutic interventions.
I like to work in a very non-directive way, so there is never any pressure to talk, paint or play: The child always leads the way.
