I am a Practice Based Play Therapy Practitioner based in West Clare, offering compassionate, child-centred therapeutic services through Helping Hands Play Therapy. I specialise in helping children navigate emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges by creating a safe and supportive environment for them to express themselves through the healing power of play.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, specialising in Intellectual Disabilities, and over ten years of experience working with children facing mild to severe challenging behaviours, I bring a unique understanding of the emotional and developmental needs of children with autism or other developmental challenges. This experience deeply informs my approach to play therapy, allowing me to tailor interventions to meet each child’s individual needs.
My practice is rooted in evidence-based approaches designed to support children aged 4 to 14. Whether a child is dealing with anxiety, trauma, grief, or social difficulties, I focus on fostering emotional well-being, resilience, and self-confidence through creative methods such as art, storytelling, and role-play.
Services offered
Individual therapy sessions: Each session lasts 45 minutes and is conducted weekly. Depending on the reason for referral, a minimum of 12 sessions is recommended, with both short- and long-term options available.
Group Play Therapy Sessions: also offer group therapy for children up to 4 children who share similar challenges (e.g., anxiety) or those with similar life experiences. These sessions last for an hour and run weekly for 10 weeks.
