Leanne Britten

I am a Certified Play and Creative Arts Therapist based in southeast Kent and offer integrative, holistic therapy to children with a variety of needs using creative media, music, movement, role play, puppets, small world and sandtray.

My background is in the visual arts, and I have applied creativity to supporting children and young people for over 18 years; supporting students with SEN,
As a youth worker, a wellbeing practitioner and as an advocate for children and young people. I hold specialist knowledge in Autism and associated conditions as well as mindfulness practice.

As a play therapist I offer creative, child led sessions, supporting each child as they express themselves through the language of play in their own unique way. Unlike talking therapies, therapeutic play creates a three-way process between the child, the therapist and the media chosen. Through observing and interacting intuitively within the child’s play expression, the therapist can understand the child’s experience better, connecting with the child from their unique developmental stage and perspective.
I believe that all children have the innate ability to strive to overcome challenges, however big or small. Play Therapy offers children a safe and supportive environment in which to explore difficult feelings, alleviate anxieties, work through real life problems and to develop as an individual.
