Ruth Caswell
Certified Play and Creative Arts Counsellor working with children and their families between the ages of 5 – 19 years, providing short and long term therapy to children and young people experiencing a wide range of challenges using playful and creative approaches. I began my career in schools, before working as a support worker with young carers and within a residential children’s home. Following this I worked for over 10 years in the areas of developmental trauma and the domestic and sexual violence sector. In 2023 I completed the level 3 certificate in working with survivors of sexual abuse, with West Mercia Rape and Sexual Assault Service. I became very aware of the impacts of trauma on the self, relationships and became increasing interested in working with children therapeutically facilitating them to express themselves and recognise their strengths and wisdom. In 2017 I began training to become a Play Therapist and was certified in 2022. I continues to develop my practice through further training courses, recently completing the post qualifying certificate in counselling adolescents. Further short course that influence the way I work with children and their families include The introduction into Synergetic Play Therapy, Theraplay level 1 and DDP level 1. Qualifications
