In the winter of 2023, my family and I took a trip to a local lighthouse. During our visit, the rain hazardous, the wind howling and the path treacherous. We walked slowly and carefully so the wind did not knock us off our feet. On our return to the car, we were all glad to be back in some form of safety. It was in this moment I realised the symbolism of a Lighthouse. The representation of the power and sometimes dangerous waters of therapy. Not knowing when the storm will pass or how hard it will hit. The lighthouse stands firm and strong within these storms to ensure the safe passage of boats to shore. As I journey alongside children, young people, and their families as they navigate their own therapeutic journey. I anchor sessions to the present day ensuring no one is lost within the process.
