PTUK has encountered instances where the use of ‘play therapy’ or similar methods has been practised by persons without adequate training, ethical basis, clinical supervision or any form of quality assurance (clinical audit).
Play Therapy cannot be learnt ‘out of a book’ or through short ‘CPD’ courses any more than being a Teacher, a Psychologist, a Nurse, a Dentist or a Doctor can be.
The introduction of the PTUK Register should minimise the use of unaccredited practitioners. Using it will considerably reduce your risks.
“Don’t put children’s safety and emotional well-being at risk. Being on the PTUK AR assures employers that the play therapy services meet specified quality standards.”
